The Khao Yai Waterfalls
Khao Yai is renowned for the height and profusion of its waterfalls, where the swollen tropical rivers surhge over unexpected precipices; one of the most enthralling to watch is the 80 m cascade at Haew Narok.
Rainforest Wildlife
Tigers, elephants, gibbons, wild boars, and clouded leopards are just a few of the hundreds of species of mammals and birds inhabiting the lush tropical rainforests of Khao Yai.
Tropical Rainforests
Much of the 2,168 sq km of the Khao Yai National Park is covered by virgin, old-growth tropical rainforest, home to 3,000 species of plants and herds of wild forest elephants.
Namtok Nang Rong and Namtok Sarica
This large waterfall, long a favourite with Thai people, is located in Nakhon Nayok Province, and is found about 20 km fom the inersection.
Namtok Kongkaew
This lower reaches waterfall originates at the Hui Lam Tha Klong. In the rainy season, it is a quiet, pleasant waterfall to visit, and is well suited to bathe in. Hui Lam Tha Klong is on the border of Nakhon Nayok and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces, but the Namtok Kongkaew is located only about 100 m from Khao Yai.
Namtok Pha Kloi Mai
This medium-sized waterfall is located 7 km from Hui Lam Tha Klong National Park Office Tourists can travel by car or foot. There is also the Whaidaeng Orchid, the symbol of the waterfall, growing at Namtok Pha Kloi Mai
Namtok Heo Suwat
The well known waterfall located 3 km. from Thanarat Road or the tourist can walk from Namtok Pha kloi Mai. The waterfall is flowing from the cliff 20 meters above. At the lower end of the waterfall is a small pool and stream suitable for swimming. In the rainy season, the water is swift and very cool.
Namtok Heo Narok
The largest and highest waterfall, highlight of this park, is located at the south end of Khaoyai National Park. There are 3 levels of water. The first level is high; about 60 meters flowing to the second and third levels. The angle of flow is 90 degrees. The total height is about 150 meters.
Namtok Mai Plong
This is a 5-tiered waterfall. The uppermost level is no more than 12 meters. It’s similar to Namtok Heo Narok or Namtok Heo Suwat. The street along side the waterfall consists of many sizes of stone and a beautiful stream. The route to go to this waterfall starts from Wang Ta Cli and goes about 24 km.
Namtok Wang Heo
The large waterfall which at its widest is about 40-60 meter, is located 17 km. from Protection Division. It’s located on the east end of Khao Yai National Park. The tourists travel 2 days to get to this waterfall. It’s suitable for the adventurous tourist and for camping in the wild. All along the way, the tourist will experience a variety of forests and the beautiful island formations. It is the most beautiful of the waterfalls.
Namtok Heo Sai
It is located 700 meter from Nam Tok Heo Su Wat. This waterfall is spread wide over the cliff,and is 5 meters high. There are 2 ways to travel. Walk from the Heo Suwat about 700 meters, or walk from the National Park along the route of Kongkaew- Heo Suwat, about 11 km.
Namtok Manaw
The small waterfall located on the southwest end is 5-6 km. from the Nutrition Building. Along the way, there is the tropical evergreen forest, suitable for studying the plants.
Namtok Tad Ta Phu
This waterfall is located at the southwest end of the National Park.
