Angthong HistoryAngthong province or the former name "Wiset Chaicharn town" is located on the bank of Noi river which
is situated in the plain area of the Chao Phraya River. According to Ayutthaya geneology, Angthong was served as an important frontier town during the
Ayutthaya period. Burmese troops have located their camps at Wiset Chaicharn sub-district in order to attack Ayutthaya town. The great combat, which was
called "Bang Rachan Combat", has later occurred at Ban Bang Rachan in Sing Buri province. The town had moved to locate on the left bank of
the Chao Phraya River at Ban Bangkaeo and was changed the name to "Angthong" because of its plain area served as water and rice bowls. |
