Railways of Thailand operates daily services from Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong). Trains leave for Chiang Mai about 5 times a day from 8.00-22.00
hrs. 3 of these services are night trains with sleeping berths. Current services depart at 18.00, 19.40 and 21.30. Journey is about 12-13 hours. Some
services have 1st class cabins with 2 sleeping berths. Most services have 2nd class air-conditionned carriages with about 32 berths arranged on either side
of the corridor in upper and lower positions partitioned into units of 4. Each berth has a curtain for privacy. There are also 2nd class carriages with only
fan ventilation available. The day service is currently scheduled to depart at 08.30 arriving at 20.55. It is an express train offering 2nd class
air-conditionned seating only. It is rated as one of the best daytime services in Thailand for the beautiful and varied scenery along the route. If you
