Getting to Koh PhanganFrom
Bangkok There are various options for getting to Koh Phangan from Bangkok. You can fly to Samui (or Suratthani) and get a boat across to Koh
Phangan. A good alternative is train travel - you can opt get the overnight train to Suratthani and then a bus/boat over to Koh Phangan. LostinThailand
offers a booking service for both these options A 3rd option for getting to Koh Phangan is by bus and boat from Bangkok. The only option we can prebook
is with Lomprayah. It's currently about 1,200B to Koh Phangan (subject to change). For an alternative route to Koh Phangan, but a longer trip, you
can take a nightboat from Bandon, Suratthani to Thongsala. The boat leaves at 22.00 and takes six hours and a half for the price of 170 baht (subject to
increase), They are not to be relied upon. For self drive visitors to Koh Phangan, Seatran and Raja Car ferries run services to Koh Phangan about
twice a day from Donsak to Thongsala via Nathon. The ferries leave Donsak at about 6.00 am and 16.00pm. reaching Koh Phangan in about 3 hours.
From Koh Samui Hi- speed boats leave Koh Samui daily from Maenam and Bophut piers to Thongsala at 8.00 and from Maenam only at
12.00 returning at 10.30 and 16.00 approximately at a cost of 280 baht per way. A ferry also leaves Nathon at 9.00 then returns from Thongsala at 12.00
am. The most regular
services from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan run between Big Buddha pier and Had Rin. There are currently about 4 services per day starting at 10.30, then 13.00,
16.00 and 18.30. Services may be reduced between mid October - mid December. A pick up from your hotel on Koh Samui can be arranged. Longtail boats run
from Maenam pier to Phangan at three main destinations: Rin Beach, Had Tien Beach and Thong Nai Pan. This service does not run all year around & prices
have been steadily increasing with rising fuel costs. From Koh Tao Services depart Koh Tao to Koh Phangan 09.45 and 14.45
approximately to Thongsala. There are no services from Koh Tao to Had Rin except on Full Moon when a special cruiser service is run for the party
revellers. Boat services are pretty regular most of the year around but can be subject to disruption from severe weather conditions particularly in
October - mid-December. Speedboat services are frequently cancelled at this time of year.
