Koh Tao Nightlife

Koh Tao has a fairly presentable nightlife. The bars are generally a little more chilled, and a lot less crowded than the huge full moon parties on the nearby island of Koh Phangan, but with a bucket of Thai whiskey being passed around the dance floor you can quickly find yourself lost in a party that will continue through to the early morning.

Professional DJ's from all over the world spin their very best. Fire jugglers frequently perform on the beaches. Look out for flyers at shops and taxis. Most of the bigger clubs have dance floors on the beach, a couple up in the mountains. The owners are very creative and staff are very friendly. Drink prices are moderate and don't forget to check out the innovative cocktails, typically for Tao, served in buckets.

For the more low-key clientele there are also a few pub-like venues and cocktail lounges with chill out tunes.

Some places show live sports, some have pool tables and some restaurants offer daily changing movie programs Thai boxing is performed at irregular times,- check for flyers on the street and quite audible announcements from cars letting you know the date and place.

If you are hungry after midnight there's traditional hawker food at most party spots and Captain Karaoke close by the post office in Mae Haad serves simple, but tasty Thai dishes until the wee hours.

Some of the more popular spots are AC Party Pub, In Touch Beach Bar, The Deck, Dry Bar, Dragon Bar, Maya Bar... just start on one end of the beach and move along...

The Whitening - Bar & Restaurant - Mae Haad

Dragon Bar -
Creative cocktails & tapas in a contemporary-retro styled bar, reminiscent of a 60's Bruce Lee flick. Seperate pool room. Modern sounds, Jazz Beats, Electronica to Hip Hop. 6pm-2am

Dry Bar -
Warm up & get picked up for the big parties at this unique bar, placed inside a tree. Relaxed & groovy sounds, sunset specials, Fridays beach party, open daily 4pm-1am

Baracuda - Restaurant & Bar - Mae Haad
The most diverse venue on the rock. Fantastic Indian & Western menu. BBQ's, MTV, films & sports & wicked tunes. End of pier road, towards Chalok, party on Mon & Sat.

Costes Lounge - Open Air Terrace Bar -Mae Haad
Chilled out, very friendly atmosphere. Perfect for daytime relaxing & nighttime socializing. Ambient & funky tunes - cool drinks & comfortable surroundings. - possibly has closed now as the last owner returned to the UK
