Baan Panburi Village
Situated on the
north east corner of Koh Phangan, this secluded, newly built resort with a wide frontage of over 300 meters expanding over half the bay of white sand,
crystal clear waters and lots of coconut trees was developed by the owner and his friends to provide the best up-market budget accommodation on the island.
Baan Panburi Resort has natural beauty and cleanliness that have been blended with simple huts and bures that serve as an idyllic paradise for young and
seasoned travelers alike who by chance have stumbled across this isolated paradise. Not yet, but very soon to be discovered by the Lonely Planet and the
likes, this remote unspoiled haven is by far the jewel of Koh Phangan. It is not easy to get to Baan Panburi. After a long train ride or coach
ride from Bangkok which often takes up to 8 hours, or a one hour flight to the nearby Samui island, then an express boat or ferry ride taking another one to
two hours, you arrive at the Koh Phangans main town Thong Sala. From there, another exciting 45 minutes up a forested jungle, several ravines, passing
through dirt road, falling boulders, water falls and through a running stream, guests will finally find themselves arriving at a beautiful bay of deep blue
color, white sandy beach flanked by the foot of a mountain range. This is Baan Panburi, a breathtaking sight that is pictured as a signature view of Koh
Phangan.
RoomsAccommodation:
The resort was opened in January 2001 consisting of 63 huts and bures.
Bures is the word for island cottage made of local wooden materials. Here it is made of bamboo panel walls, palm leave roof with wooden floor, rustic and
picturesque in appearance. Our guests often hang their hammocks by the front porch which has striking seaview and spend lazy time reading or taking naps.
Island hut is a slightly smaller and less detail version, both are cleanly kept and have excellent view. Do not expect hot water, but the weather should be
very tropical and warm with fresh breeze. Ceiling fan is provided as well as mosquito net to cover the bed at night. A very rustic and wonderful experience
to spend time here and guaranteed one would not want to leave when the time comes.
FacilitiesOur Chef Ja, has as usual come up with many new dishes apart from her famous Thai cuisine with fusion of Thai Herbs, like kaffir leaves,
lemongrass, basil, galangal. Baan Panburi is re-known for its variety of cuisine, in fact we are probably recognized as the best cuisine on the island. It is
no surprise that Joe Cummings the author of The Lonely Planet on Thailand who stayed with us last year commented that our food is one of the best he ever
tasted throughout his travel outside Bangkok. To further our quest for fine cuisine, our Chef Ja can prepare you any request not in our menu, especially for
your special occasions, like birthday, anniversary or just a surprise or farewell to your friend. Please ask for her, and she can arrange a selection to suit
your liking and budget. Our Massage House and Spa 'Baan Sawasdee' opened last year has been a great hit. With Thai traditional massage at its best and
smoothing oil and herbal massage at very reasonable rates. An experience not to be missed is also for you to enjoy. - Beach volley
