Ban Raya
Ban
Raya, Phuket is a resort on the Island of Racha Yai which is situated 12 km south of Phuket Island on the south west coast of Thailand. The Resort is
situated 2 minutes walk away from a lovely snorkeling & diving beach and 20 minutes walk away from the main beach and boat anchorage. Racha Yai is
a beautiful unspoiled and unsophisticated Island. The ideal place to get away from it. There are no roads and hence no traffic. It is a small island so
walking is easy and enjoyable. Ban Raya consists of 60 acres on the south east corner of Phuket island. The resort sits on a headland and the property
streches down to two bays. The first Ao Konkare has some of the best diving and snorkeling in the region and the other, Ao Tue, has beautiful white sands and
shallow safe water for swimming and snorkeling. Ao Tue also has safe sheltered moorings in the Green season when the popular west coast bay, Ao Paktok, tends
to be exposed to the south west monsoon. Getting to Racha is part of the experience and guests can choose from a number of alternatives. Fast
speed boats whisk guests and visitors there in about 20 mins but a more leisurely way is by traditional longtail which takes about 1-2 hours. Daily speed
boat service is available in the high season or guests can hire their own speed boat. Longtails are available at any time but may be dependent on the weather
particularly in the Green season. Most daily services depart from Phuket in the morning and return late afternoon. In order to meet flight schedules etc. it
may be necessary to spend a night in Phuket.
This can be arranged by the resort. Many international guests like to combine their holiday with a
few days in Phuket where they can indulge in the nightlife and shopping. There are no shops on Racha island but a limited range of toiletries and souvenirs
are available at Ban Raya. Day trips to Phuket for shopping or sight seeing can be arranged.
