Grand Sea Resort is located on the idyllic white sand cove of Ao Nai Wok, just one kilometre from the town of Thong Sala, Koh Phangan. It is far enough from the main port to ensure that your stay is as quiet and relaxing as possible, yet all the best amenities that the island has to offer are only a few minutes walk away. The resort occupies the entire upper end of the beach and has a variety of extremely well equipped bungalows; either right on the beachfront or nestled into the nearby hillside. All of the buildings are traditional Thai Lanna design, newly built and are finished to exceptional standards with hand carved wooden features and great attention to detail. Every consideration has been made to provide the most comfortable atmosphere possible, with all the facilities customers would expect from one of Koh Phangan's most exclusive resorts; including a beachfront swimming pool and stunning Thai restaurant.
The beach on Ao Nai Wok has long been a favourite of many returning visitors to Koh Phangan and is part of the long stretch of white sand beach that runs from Ao Nai Wok mountain all the way up to Thongsala. Most of the land along the coastline has been farmed as coconut plantations and the area takes on a dreamy desert island feel with palms leaning in to the calm emerald sea. Ao Nai Wok has a broad beach that is protected from the high seas by the rich coral reef that follows the south and west coastline, providing a haven for beautiful and harmless marine life and a great place to go snorkelling. The resorts are generously spaced on the long beach, making it easy to find solitude; and there are also a few local bars if guests fancy a drink under the stars.
The accommodation at Grand Sea Resort is some of the best the island has, with no expense spared in creating a wonderful Thai Lanna Style environment; completed with beautiful had carved wooden features and fantastic attention to detail. Traditional roof tiles glisten gold in the setting sun and abundant tropical flora surrounds the bungalows, a constant reminder that you are in paradise. There is a variety of styles and sizes to choose from and each bungalow has a spacious balcony to enjoy the sunset views; some even have terraces that surround the bungalow, adding to the living space and authentic Thai atmosphere.
The resort offers a choice of three different sleeping arrangements in its bungalows so that every option is catered for; There are rooms with one single bed; rooms with a double and a single bed and even rooms with two double beds. All of the bungalows in the resort come with luxurious western fitted bathrooms with proper baths, hot water and are tastefully tiled in ceramics. They also have air conditioning; cable TV and mini-bar as standard and all have wonderful sunset views over the islands of Angthong Marine Park. No expense has been spared on decorating the rooms, with beautifully wood panelled walls, tasteful wood furniture and tropical hardwood floors, all creating a warm and inviting living space.
The restaurant at Grand Sea Resort is designed in the same traditional Lanna style as the bungalows, with high vaulting roofs covered with iridescent tiles that change colour with the movement of the sun. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with a variety of seating options; including open-air or air-conditioned, seated or laying down on a traditional raised platform. There is a wide choice of traditional Thai dishes and an interesting selection of world cuisine; all cooked to perfection by the resort's talented and versatile kitchen staff. There is also bar in the restaurant where you can unwind and relax with a delicious cocktail or cold beer after a hard day on the beach.
Grand Sea Resort offers a range of facilities and activities to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. There is a beachfront swimming pool and terrace; and free snorkelling equipment is available to explore the rich coral reef off Ao Nai Wok that lays about 130 metres from the shoreline; protecting it from the incoming sea and creating a calm bay that is deep enough to swim in most tidal conditions. Another great way to check out the abundant local marine life is by taking a trip on one of Grand Sea's free kayaks, excellent fun and easy to become skilled at. Volleyball and badminton can be played on the beach; and there's a big screen TV for live sporting events, movies and videos. There are telephone and laundry services provided and a travel booking service if you ever want to move on! Horse riding can be arranged, motorbikes and jeeps are available for hire and there's a taxi service if you don't want to drive.
