Kamala Beach Kamala Beach, 6km north of Patong, takes its name from the nearby fishing village. Tourist development has been slow to arrive in this part of the island which has enabled it to retain its natural beauty and charm.
Having little in the way of man-made entertainment there are interesting local shops and excellent small Thai restaurants specializing in seafood to explore. A regular bus service runs to and from Phuket Town during the day, and tuk-tuks are available to go where you please. Also heading north from Kamala along the coast road, the pristine beaches of Laem Sing and Surin are just a 10 minute leisurely drive away.
